O sing to the LORD a new song:
sing
to the LORD all the earth.
Sing to the LORD,
bless his name;
tell of his salvation from day to day.
—Psalm 96: 1-2
Greetings and welcome!
The ancient Psalmist was acutely aware of the blessings of life that come from God, as attested by this joyful Psalm of praise. You, too, may sense the divine presence at work as you look to your upcoming year at the University of Indianapolis! Take a few moments of quiet reflection; look back upon the path you have walked; and consider the contours of your life thus far. What new song do you have in your heart today?
There are exciting and enriching programs which emerge from the Chaplains' Office that we want you to know about. We warmly encourage you to come and see where the song of your Christian faith can grow stronger, and where in the community of faithful others, you can strive to deepen your discipleship to Christ. We invite you to learn about opportunities for worship, service, formation and fellowship that can be a significant part of your university experience.
Our beautiful University Chapel, found on the second floor of the Schwitzer Student Center, is the center of spiritual life on campus. Not only is it used by various student groups for their religious activities, but it is open for personal prayer, scripture reading, and reflection. Just around the corner is our campus Meditation Room, where one can find a smaller place of quiet. Make these sacred spaces yours in your years at UINDY; they provide a centering and peaceful repose midst the busyness of your lives.
Also remember that we are available to assist you in times of need, confusion, or hurt (as well as joy, good news, and success). Come get to know us. When you need some spiritual guidance, another view to help you sort out an issue, or just a friendly, listening ear, the University Chaplains are here to serve you!
So, what new song will you sing this academic year at the University
of Indianapolis? We will be listening for you! It is going to be a
great year, and we look forward to your involvement in upcoming Christian
life events! The Psalmist continues in Psalm 96:
Tell the heavens
and the earth
to
be glad and celebrate!
—Psalm 96:11a
Won't you join in the celebration?
